Dr. Markus Jakobsson is a security researcher with interests in applied security, ranging from device security to user interfaces. He is one of the main contributors to the understanding of phishing and crimeware, and is currently focusing his efforts on social engineering, human aspects of security and mobile security.
Markus has published a collection of books and over one hundred peer-reviewed conference and journal articles. He holds 50+ patents and more than a hundred pending patents. Markus is a co-founder of four startups, spanning user authentication, mobile malware detection, and secure user messaging.
After Qualcomm acquired FatSkunk, the mobile malware startup Markus founded in 2009, Markus joined Qualcomm as a Senior Director. In 2016, he joined Agari as Chief Scientist. Agari is a leading email security provider addressing spoofing, business email compromise, and other email-based threats. Markus researches identity deception, email security, malware, authentication, fraud, user interfaces and efficient implementations of security technologies.
