Markus does consulting in two main areas:
- Security review. Markus assesses the security of cryptographic constructions and protocols, user interfaces, and educational campaigns — whether for due diligence, to aid PR efforts, or to guide patent efforts. He also guides efforts by suggesting approaches to improve security, or to simplify review efforts and permit easier audits. Markus has worked for several major financial service providers, a large collection of startups and medium-sized companies, and one government. Markus also serves on the fraud advisory board of LifeLock, and on the technical advisory board of CellFony, where he performs similar reviews along with trend analysis and due diligence reviews for potential partner companies.
- Expert witness in patent litigation trials. Markus has served as an expert witness in patent litigation cases covering Internet technology, network and computer security, cryptography, encryption and obfuscation.
